Verification of Proof

If you received a citation for “No Insurance, Motor Vehicle Inspection, and No Operator Carried” charges, only you can bring in proof of these charges, and the charges may be dismissed at the Officer’s discretion.
 

  • All requests for dismissal that are brought less than 7 days before the court date will be referred to the arraignment date on the citation.

  • MVI proof will be accepted if provided within 5 days of being issued, if expired for less than 90 days.

  • Insurance proof will be accepted if provided within 7 days of being issued.

  • Proof of a Driver’s License will be accepted if the issue date is before the date of the citation.

  • This may be accepted until the day before court if the Officer is on duty.

VIN Verification

The Westover Police Department does VIN Verification for residents of Westover. The cost is $5.00, cash or check.

 

Payment is taken at the police headquarters at 500 DuPont Road.

Payment must be completed before the VIN Verification can begin.

The VIN Verification form (DMV -1B) will be filled out by an Officer after payment is made.

West Virginia VIN Verification is a mandatory step in different title situations. After the form is filled in, you will need to return it to the West Virginia DMV.
