Shawna Cross is a West Virginia native, who graduated from West Virginia University and has lived in Westover since 2007. She was elected in 2022 to Westover City Council to serve a four-year term, where she strives to help her city. She is a licensed Realtor with a background in accounting and social work. Fulfilling her duties as a public servant is very important to her, and she is willing to go above and beyond to make things happen.

Shawna successfully petitioned Westover in 2021 to allow urban beekeeping and is active in both the Monongalia County and the West Virginia Beekeepers Associations. She got her first hive in 2019 and realized how important and fascinating honeybees are. She initiated the Bee City USA affiliation to raise awareness about pollinator issues and to get residents involved.

 

She was involved in the planning of 2024 WinterFest, is a member of the WV Municipal League, and spends her weekends on the golf course or in her bee hives. She also serves as a board member for Friends of WVU Hospitals.

Shawna strives to make a difference where she can. Her “get-it-done attitude” and community connections motivate her to resolve issues and improve situations for her community and its residents.
